EBRE OBSERVATORY

Around 1904 the Society of Jesus had the brilliant idea of building a research institute to study the relationship between the Sun and the Earth. The Observatory’s contribution to science is today incalculable, a source of pride for Roquetes, as it preserves centuries-old files of magnetic, ionospheric, seismic, meteorological and solar records. To give you an idea, the seismic and ionospheric records are the oldest in Spain and the meteorological records go back to 1880.

We invite you to understand the Earth, the Sun and their mutual relationship, at the same time, get to know this hundred-year-old nest of science to understand and learn everything that surrounds us from the hand of scientists. Guided visits to the facilities and activities related to Earth sciences, solar physics and astronomy are periodically organized.
